This week is about Nursery Rhymes and Fairy Tales. Yesterday we focused on Jack and Jill and The Cow Jumped Over the Moon. We predicted whether it was easier to walk up the stairs with an empty jug or down the stairs with a full jug and tested it, we made moon catchers and had a water filling bucket race. Tomorrow they will read and do activities centered around Jack Be Nimble and Humpty Dumpty. Unfortunately there won't be a blog post for tomorrow since I won't be there to get pictures. Have a great weekend! Balancing Weights Moon Catchers Bucket Race

Today was a ton of fun! We ice skated on paper plates, read the book Snowy Day and watched the short video, did the snowey pokey, played snowflake bingo, did salt art and played a build a snowman math game. Have a great weekend! Reading about snowmen "Ice Skating" on paper plates Building a snowman dice game Salt Art Snowflake Bingo Motor Skills
You've probably heard a little about our day yesterday! It's was all about hot chocolate and winter theme. We read a book about a snowman, sang a song about hot chocolate, did an experiment involving dissolving, taste tested hot chocolate with and without marshmallows, did some hot chocolate math, painted with hot chocolate and so much more. Our days are packed full and we have a blast. Our hot chocolate station was a huge hit. I must have drank 10 cups yesterday...lol Sorting snowballs by small, medium and large Counting marshmallows Feeding the snowman (all of these activities look like just playing but they are actually great fine motor activities that develop the muscles in the hands to prepare them for writing) They had to roll the die, count the dots and add marshmallows to the hot chocolate Marshmallow toss (we have to get in our gross motor too) Enjoying our hot chocolate Snowflake painting with loofah's Painting with hot chocolate (this was a great sensory experience for them)
Last Friday was a quiet day with only six frogs in attendance. We pretended we were penguins trying to carry an egg on our feet, did some predictions about what would slide on ice, painted penguins, sang and read more about them.
Today we: read about penguins, sang and danced to songs about them, did a science experiment about them and did some math all using the penguin theme. Feeding penguins Scooping penguins Today we did an experiment with oil and water. We realized that they don't mix. Then we talked about how penguins stay warm in the cold because they have oil on their feathers and it doesn't mix with water. I'm a Little Penguin Buddies
Friday was busy just like every other day in our classroom. We sorted our teddy bears, made patterns with them, played with them on a parachute, graphed our favorite kind of bear and painted a bear picture. Washing Bears Biggest to smallest Sorting the bears The Picnic Scooting in motor skills We danced to the teddy bear song
This week is all about bears! Our word this week is hibernation. Ask them if they know what that word means. We read bear facts, sang and acted out a gummy bear song, sorted, measured and weighed gummy bears, we did some interesting science with them and of course tasted a few. We also did an open ended tissue paper and aluminum paper art piece. I'm so glad to be back with my frogs. I missed the dearly. Washing the bears Dressing the bears Practice tracing/writing our names The Gummy Bear Song Patterning We melted one in the mocrowave and they were so surprised at the change. We also tried to dissolve some. There is one in the freezer to check out tomorrow.
