Today was awesome! Thank you families for the donations. We had a great time with the Owl class delivering the food to our Manna House. Your children dictated messages of what they would like to say to Jesus on his birthday for our balloon we will send off at the party tomorrow. I thought you might enjoy hearing what they said as you may not get a chance to read the balloon tomorrow. Here is the quotes: O- "Happy Birthday and I would share my crackers with you" T- "Happy Birthday"D Kr-"I'm going to make you a birthday cake" S-"I love you and I'm going to draw something for you" L-"Do you have breakfast in heaven" Ka-"Do you want to have lunch" G-"I would give him some of my fishies" A-"Merry Christmas" G.C.-"I love Jesus and Happy Birthday" Look at all this food we collected On our way to the Manna House We sorted the food and put it on the shelves Painting the Nativity The finished product Making baby Jesus thumbprints in our journals Jesus sure does make us happy Transferring jingle bells with tongs They said this was a birthday cake for Jesus

Christmas Patterning Christmas Lacing Magnetic Jingle Bell Fun Christmas Tree Math Candy Cane Art Christmas Tree Names in their Journals Today at chapel Mrs. Kunkel compared the Bible to a map that guides us in our day to day actions and choices. We learned two new songs which you will probably hear them singing.
Decorating a Christmas tree Sorting Christmas erasers Christmas tree geo board Today we did some candy cane science. We discussed the states of matter and what dissolve means. They told me what they knew about candy canes already and then we investigated them more. Our candy cane completely dissolved in warm water and in vinegar but remained unchanged in the oil. I asked them if they thought we could change the shape of a candy cane by heating it up. They thought it was possible if it got really hot. So we tested it by placing them in an oven and sure enough we were able to make a letter "Z" and a heart out of the now soft candy cane. I love watching their amazement when they experience something for the first time. I have the best job in the world. Here are some quotes of what they already knew about candy canes and more pictures of our experiences. What we know about candy canes: "You eat them, hold them, suck on them, bite them, they are from Santa, people give them for Christmas, they have stripes and they have red and white" We also tasted York peppermint patties and candy canes to see if they tasted the same and to decide which we like better. They York was a winner hands down. Christmas tree art Candy Cane beading Snow in the sensory tub was a hit This was such a fun book they just laughed and laughed. A rhyming Rudolph flannel story
