The fall parade and party were a hit. Thanks parents that planned and implemented the party and those that attended. These are great memories and mean the world to your kiddos. Yesterday was more pumpkin fun. We read about Spookley the square pumpkin, sang about five jack-o-lanterns, made our own square pumpkins, laced bracelets and did a some science. This week is pumpkin week. We talked about the life cycle of a pumpkin, read about a silly jack-o-lantern, sang a song about five pumpkins, painted with pumpkins, played a jack-o-lantern dice game, drew jack-o-lanterns in our journals and lots of fine motor pumpkin activities. Letter matching Scooping is so much fun and it's a great fine motor/hand eye coordination activity Raking leaves was a big hit and a great gross motor activity Drawing Jack-O-Lanterns in our journals Painting with pumpkins and making pumpkin patches They had to place clothespins on the letters in their name on the pumpkins Roll A Jack-O-Lantern Game
We finally had our firefighter visit! They taught us all about fire safety and what to do in case of a fire. Then we got to spray the hose and walk through the fire truck. The day went by too quickly. We made monsters out of play-do and potato head parts and made patterns in our journals. Sorry this is so late. My weekends seem to be so busy lately! Enjoy!
We had more monster fun yesterday! We sang about five little monsters, read a monster patterning book, cut and sorted in our journals, made shape monsters and lots more. Preschool is so fun! They had such a blast with this fire truck yesterday! Wish you could have heard the conversations going on. The real fire truck is suppose to come tomorrow God willing. Friday we finished up with bats. We used non-standard measurement to measure bats, used fly swatters to bat them around, covered circles with circles (reinforcers) in our journals, painted with squirt bottles, played bat, bat, bat.......cave and lots of fine motor activities. I hope you are enjoying this blog. I just imagine how much I would have loved this when my boys were little (or even now when one is away at college....lol). This week we are studying bats. We read a fun little bat book, discussed what we know about bats, sang a song about five bats, graphed whether we thought bats were creepy or cute and made magnetic slime. Ask them about the word nocturnal. Friday was spiderific! We did a spider fingerplay, cut spider web lines and lined with glue, drew spiders in our journals, did a sorting activity, read more about spiders, used the parachute and did some balancing activities in motor skills. You can see that our days are packed full of great activities! Drawing spiders in our journals Making spiders out of play-doh Cutting Sorting beads by color with tongs Line tracing with glue (this is a great fine motor activity, look at the muscles being used for this activity) They did balancing activities in motor skills We used spiders in the parachute and played spider,spider......web (a version of duck,duck.....goose). They loved this!
