Today we had a lot of Easter fun! More importantly we talked about Jesus and what he did for us and what Easter really means. Parents you're doing an amazing job with these beautiful children. Pet Stamping Pet Bingo Bone Seriation (biggest to smallest) Stacking HEB food I went and got some Buddy Bucks and they loved them.
Frog Races Placing pet erasers on pencils. Bone tracing and vowel writing in out journals It was such a lovely day that we decided to have a picnic outside. We weighed bones and dog food. They made their own pet rocks. Their fine motor skills have really improved. They were cutting snakes out of paper plates.
Bird Seed Scooping Feather Painting Washing Horses This week we have HEB set up in our classroom. They really like shopping. I think you all should consider letting them do your shopping. LOL It was such a beautiful day that we moved some of our centers outside and we also drew/wrote with chalk on the sidewalk outside our classroom. Dog food in the sensory tub was a big hit even thought it smells funny. We graphed our favorite pets. Kittens were the favorite with the frogs. We made bird feeders in class and hung one outside our classroom. Hopefully we'll get some feathery friends outside our window to observe.
Pretend play is an important part of a child's development. It's how they learn and experience their world and process what they have seen and experienced. So these two are about ten feet away from one another having a pretty serious conversation. Here is the dialogue: E.- "Hello S. Your baby is looking good." S.- "Thanks! She has a 59 fever." E.- "Do you want to come over to my house and get lunch? Ring ,ring, ring hello your phone is ringing." S.- "I can't because I have to stay here with my baby because she has a 59 fever." Look at how concerned she looks. She is truly stressed for her baby. This is real to them. Swinging on your tummy really is the best way! We predicted how many little footballs it would take to cover the large football. Some of them were extremely close with their guesses. Ball Patterning At the end of the day they participated in an obstacle course.
Pipe cleaner creations Writing in Sand Writing sevens in our journals We did an experiment with oxidation today. We added lime juice to a slice of apple and compared and observed what happens when the air hits them. We weighed different balls and predicted which ones would weigh more. Wooden Strategy Puzzles This week we are learning about health and nutrition and sports. We sorted healthy and not healthy items and glued them in our journal. Building is a favorite in our classroom. A little basketball action We made pea sculptures.
We had a visit from some local heroes. They presented a puppet show with safety facts for your kiddos. McGruff the crime dog sang a song about stranger danger. Stacking nuts and bolts Some practice in vertical cutting We played where is the truck. They had to guess what cone the truck was under and tell the letter and sound. We do a lot of gross motor activities in our classroom as well. This is a stop light bean bag toss game. Making our own stop lights
This week we are learning about community helpers. They really enjoyed the beauty shop Both the boys and the girls worked to give these mannequins a makeover. They also enjoyed our new construction zone. Wrench Seriation E- "These are real tools." They made rectangle robots in their journals. Vehicle/Color Sort Making Rainbow Stew They realized that we only put blue, yellow and red in the bag but ended up with green. This is the way they learn and remember best. Nut and bolt stamping
Scrubbing those germs away Letter Tracing When life gives you lemons make lemonade and lots of it! Tick tock putting together a shape clock The writing center has been so busy in 2015. It makes me so happy. They are becoming so much more confident to use the materials and write/draw. We made our own toothpaste and brushed our teeth with it. We talked about how many teeth children have and then we made our own mouth with twenty teeth.
