They sure do miss their friend. They named this guy T and give him hugs all day long. They practiced writing their names in journals. We are perfecting the letters. Planets on the easel Butterfly painting Sun Creations Our butterflies are just about to emerge. We have read books about them, learned a new song and made a project about their life cycle. It has been extremely interesting seeing the process first hand.

We ended the week with the spider theme. We played a spider math game, did a spider cutting activity, made spider webs out of glue and more. Enjoy! Cutting is intense work! They had to trace the spider web lines with glue (all while performing firefighting duties....lol). This takes a great deal of fine motor skill. It was challenging for some of them, but they worked hard and tried their best. That is the expectation in the frog class and they always rise to the challenge. This is how we develop those muscles. They had to erase the letter "S" with a Q-tip and water Teamwork with friends Shooting some hoops on the playground We tossed fake flies at our pretend spider web to see if they would stick. I try to incorporate a lot of gross motor skills in my classroom as well. Sorry about the view. It's difficult to get them in action sometimes and so we get what we can and sometimes that means some scary pictures of Mrs. April. I've learned to get over it for the sake of this blog. We graphed 'Are You Afraid of Spiders" Here is the math game we played. They drew out a black or orange spider and then had to color one spider the same color that they drew out. Then we counted how much of each and determined which was more. They loved this story. A little hopscotch before leaving motor skills
We had a couple of physician's in our classroom today. Counting and adding thorns to cactuses We did an experiment with the sun and marshmallows today. They told me that the sun would melt the marshmallows and so we added skewed them and put them in the sun. We also placed some in the shade. The sun warmed the marshmallows after 15 minutes but didn't melt them and we decided that they would have melted if they were out there longer.
