Our theme this week is based off the books Not a Box and Not a Stick. We are using the simplest of materials (boxes and sticks) to enhance our imaginations. We searched for letters on common food boxes and painted boxes as a class project. They had a great time playing with boxes and sticks. We also had a visit from a cowboy and cowgirl today that shared information about counrty living. Play-do and sticks We played a Jack-in-the-Box game

We had such a fun filled day! I imagine your children were exhausted when you picked them up. I know I sure was and slept well that night. It began as you know with our shoebox float parade, next we made flour tortillas, had a cupcake walk, pounded a piñata, played kazoos, got our face painted and made cascarones, made maracas, danced to many songs and did the limbo, made crowns and ate a delicious lunch prepared by our lovely Ms. Kunkel, Ms. Foster and Ms. Grossman. I want to thank the lovely moms that prepared for and spent the entire day in our classrooms making the tortillas with the classes so that we could do the other events. Also thank you for the beautiful plant, card and gift card and most of all for remembering me on my birthday. You truly made me feel special. You are a great group of parents with the most amazing children.
So we finished up our beach themed week on Friday reading A House for Hermit Crab, decorating our own hermit crab houses (shells), a goldfish counting activity and let's not forget the beautiful art show. I hope you all got a chance to walk through it with your children. They were so proud of their beautiful masterpieces (as they should be). The piece displayed for them will be coming home in their totes tomorrow if it's not too hectic. TOMORROW is FIESTA FUN! Don't forget your shoebox floats. Beach I Spy Magnetic Fishing
This week our theme is ocean/beach! We read Rainbow Fish, made our own rainbow fish, sang a new ocean song, did two science activities about why fish swim together and why an octopus squirts out ink, played a math bingo game and pretended we were scuba divers. Wacky Wednesday was pretty wacky! Your children laughed all day long. We listened to Christmas music, read Halloween books, had a New Year's parade, had a google eye search, painted with our feet and ate dinner for lunch. I imagine they told you all about it.
