We had such a fun and busy day. It started with us engaging all of our senses at once by popping some popcorn. Then we did a listening cd where they had to listen for the sound and hold up the card for that sound. We then went for a listening/looking walk. I can't believe how fast the time flies with them. It's not enough time. Here are some pictures of our day. I even put my listening ears on and I think they thought I had lost my mind. LOL Our listening walk They checked off the things that they saw or heard. Reading books about our senses. Just like walking and talking reading is developmental and children all develop at their own rate. We must offer them rich materials and expose them to reading and questions about what they read. This will help to develop a love for reading and the desire to want to reach for a book on their own. Here is a link that explains the stages of reading for those that may not know already. http://web.scott.k12.va.us/awettack/stages_of_reading_development.htm Painting with bells on the end of our brushes.
