Last Friday we finished up our penguin unit. We balanced eggs on our feet like the daddy penguin does, painted with ice, experimented with what slides on ice and did a penguin counting activity. I hope you're enjoying this blog and it's helping with conversations about what they did at school. Have a lovely evening! Many Blessings!

We met some interesting critters yesterday. We had some trivia and got to examine them up close. They also had the opportunity to touch them but none of our frogs were too interested. I don't blame the one bit. I didn't touch any either. Have a blessed evening! See you tomorrow.
We finished our week of bears with a picnic. We also sang about a teddy bear, read a teddy bear book, cut teddy bear strips, put our bears in order from tallest to shortest, sorted our bears, played with them in a parachute and did a color matching painting activity. Enjoy the pics! See you on Wednesday.
It's bear week! Yesterday we:
-Sang a song about a bear and his underwear -Read about a Bear that Snores -Sorted and graphed gummy bears -Made patterns wit gummy bears -Used forks to make bear art -Played the keyboard in music with Ms. Aline -Did a STEM activity with popsicle sticks, cups and bears. We talked about bridges and their purpose. Then they were given these materials to create their own bridges for the bears. As you can see they are pretty inventive. There is so much thinking that goes into these open ended activities with loose parts. Today was busy and fun! We celebrated this cutie today! Happy Birthday S! You can see that our cart was pretty full for the Manna House. Thank you for the donations! You're kiddos got to see first hand the gift of giving. Today we also: worked with magnets, painted with balloons, read about the nativity, did a scarf dance to the Sugarplum Fairy, did a counting/sorting activity in our journals and played Christmas Stew!
"From birth, children are curious. You can build on that natural curiosity by developing their interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Use daily routines to build on skills and concepts in math and science. By talking, reading, singing, playing, signing or using other ways to communicate – whatever works best for your preschoolers – you can help develop their STEM skills through play and exploration. Easy ways to promote young children’s natural abilities as scientists and engineers is by encouraging them to document their observations by drawing, painting, or recording their voices describe what they are noticing; constructing towers with blocks or other objects; and talking about the changes in nature – like the weather." Here is the link to this great article that I pulled this from if you want to read more about it. https://www2.ed.gov/about/inits/ed/earlylearning/talk-read-sing/stem-toolkit-preschool-teachers.pdf
Yesterday we engaged in a STEM activity. We talked about engineers and what they do. They were given multiple materials to work with and the freedom to manipulate them any way they wanted. We engaged them in open ended questions. This is how they learn best about how the world works. It was a lot of fun. Some of them asked if we could do it again. We also guessed what was in the stocking with clues I gave them, sang a color/rhyming song about Rudolph's nose and graphed whether they would rather be Santa's elf or reindeer. I guess flying is pretty appealing for a preschooler. Have a blessed weekend! Yesterday we met two very special guests. We met Sahara the porcupine and Jingle the reindeer. It was so neat to see a real live reindeer. Your children were fascinated. Next Wednesday is our in house field trip to the Manna House. You received a paper about it yesterday on your totes. Remember this is strictly optional. If you are in some need yourself please don't feel like you have to bring something. No one will know who did and didn't bring something. It is strictly to help others. That being said if you are in need please feel free to reach out. There are always resources. I am happy to help in any way I can. Thanks for all the support you always provide me. Class Christmas party is next Friday at noon in the classroom. Have a blessed evening!
Good morning! We finished up last week with lots of gingerbread activities. We also made two different types of ornaments. I realize I didn't get every child in this post. I apologize for that. I try really hard. We are so busy and I'm so caught up in what we're doing that I forget to snap pics of everything. Our days are jam packed full. I want to make the most of the eight hours I get with them. I hope you are able to capture it through this blog (when I get pics...lol). Have a blessed evening and see you on Wendesday.
Yesterday we did lots of gingerbread activities and Ms. Aline shared with them about baby Jesus in music. Some of the activities we did in class include: -Gingerbread tasting and graphing -A positional gingerbread activity -Gingerbread patterning -Candyland shape gingerbread game -Decorating the gingerbread dice game -Read The Gingerbread Man -Sang about five little gingerbread -Put a gingerbread in water and watched him begin to dissolve ![]() |
